What the Expert Says
Secures Fire Doors Without Risking Impeding People’s Escape
The need for a door to be both solid and secure but also accessible and easily opened during an emergency has often been problematic. Although government guidelines state that escape routes should not be fitted with any locking devices (electronically operated or otherwise) it is also recognised that a security device to prevent unauthorised and unlimited access is needed in many cases. The Panic Bolt Unit eliminates the risk of impeding people’s escape, either by being unnecessarily complicated or not being readily capable of being opened, as it works by a simple spring loaded bolt which is held in place by a ceramic or glass tube that can be broken in the event of an emergency. The Panic Bolt Unit includes a small hammer to easily smash the inner tube, allowing the bolt to spring out, releasing the door.Michelle Brown
